Despite the cooling effects of the La Niña phenomenon, global temperatures remain near historic highs, with February being the third warmest on record. Notably, sea ice levels have reached a historic low, and sea surface temperatures are at record highs. These climatic anomalies have led to unusual weather patterns, including intense cyclones in Australia and severe wildfires in Japan. Scientists emphasize that substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions are essential to mitigate these extreme effects and long-term sea-level rise.

 

 

Eurostar trains cancelled after unexploded WWII bomb found in Paris

During overnight construction near France’s Gare du Nord, workers discovered an unexploded 500kg World War II bomb buried two meters deep between the tracks. As a result, Eurostar cancelled all high-speed trains between Paris, London, and Brussels, advising travellers to reroute via Lille or fly. French regional trains were also disrupted, affecting the station’s 700,000 daily passengers. Bomb disposal teams secured a 500-meter perimeter while officials reassured the public that safety protocols were in place. Though wartime ordnance is regularly found in France, discoveries in busy locations are rare.
