One tradition that’s very close to my heart is starting Easter Sunday with a visit to church, followed by a family meal at my home. It’s a special time when my children and grandchildren all come together. Sharing that joy, laughter, and love across generations is truly what makes Easter so meaningful to me.
Q What Does Easter Mean to You?
Easter is a Christian celebration commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a pivotal event in my faith, marking the triumph of life over death and offering hope for salvation and new beginnings. As a Sri Lankan, it has also become day of remembrance of the many innocent lives that were lost on that day 6 years ago while many were at church, eating breakfast and my family and I were on our way to church.
Q Your Favorite Easter Tradition?
As a child it involved waking up and searching for the Easter bunny’s chocolate eggs in a treasure hunt. As a parent it became the creation of the treasure hunt. As a Christian adult, it’s simply a time we start the day at church, commemorate and celebrate, followed usually by a family lunch. This year will be a little different with an O’Level student in the house about to sit his exams.
Q What Does Easter Mean to You?
Easter, to me, is all about family, faith, and (let’s be honest) finally celebrating the fact that I actually stuck to my Lent sacrifice! It’s a time to reset, reflect, and rejoice, and a gentle reminder that brighter days are always ahead.
Q Your Favorite Easter Tradition?
Easter in our household is never quite the Christmas-level production, but it’s still full of meaning. Church, catching up with family, and lots of laughing overlunch; it’s those simple, heart-full moments that matter most. Wishing everyone a joyful Easter.

Resurrection Sunday is a celebration of the impossible becoming real, of light breaking through, of love outlasting death, and of hope that refuses to stay buried. It’s the day everything changed. Jesus rose, and with Him came the promise that nothing is beyond redemption.
This isn’t just a moment in history. It’s an invitation to live fully, boldly, and with the deep assurance that His risen life is now shaping a world of justice, mercy, and peace. Whoever you are, whatever your beliefs, resurrection is a universal message of hope. So we rejoice!
Because the tomb is empty and life is rising, in us, around us, and through us.
Q What Does Easter Mean to You?
As Easter approaches, it brings with it more than a celebration; it offers a moment of quiet reflection, a time to pause and recognize the beauty of renewal. To me, Easter is the heart of hope. It is a powerful reminder that even in our darkest moments, light breaks through. It marks the victory of life over death, love over despair, and grace over sorrow.
Easter invites us to begin again, to open our hearts to forgiveness, compassion, and healing. This year, my thoughts are also with the victims and families of the tragic Easter Sunday attacks in 2019. What should have been a sacred day of peace turned into one of unimaginable loss. I hold in prayer those who continue to grieve and honour the memory of all who were taken too soon. May they find comfort, strength, and enduring peace. As we celebrate this season of resurrection, may we each be reminded that no matter what we face, renewal is always possible.
Q Your Favorite Easter Tradition?
For me, Easter traditions are rooted in the simple joy of being together, sharing a home-cooked meal, hearing the laughter of children as they decorate eggs, or attending a peaceful service at dawn. These traditions, though simple, carry profound meaning. They remind us of what truly matters: love, connection, and community. This year, I look forward to a quiet celebration with loved ones. I’ll take time to appreciate the little things; nature in bloom, laughter around the table, the blessing of family, and the promise of new beginnings.
Wishing you all a Blessed Easter filled with warmth, faith, and the happiness that comes with fresh starts. May your hearts be light, your hands generous, and your spirit renewed.
