19th april 2025

Dearest Readers,

They say April is the season of renewal, but for some of our dear darlings, it’s merely the season of reveals. Because what’s a festival without a little fallout, and what’s a TikTok trend without a full-blown breakdown in the group chat?

Let us begin, as all legendary scandals do, in the comment section, that modern-day Colosseum where reputations are publicly executed, and egos are laid bare. This Avurudu, culture took a backseat while reels ran riot. And the gossip? It wasn’t just about outfits, it was about expectations built around a personality they once loved, hyped, and idolized. Expectations, mind you, that this individual never asked for. And I must say, after scrolling through the completely unmoderated comment section, I’ve never seen such a divine gathering of keyboard saints. Truly, this country is blessed, so many paragons of virtue, shocked and appalled that celebrities dare behave like, well… people.

And as for the “victims” now appearing in the comments section as though it’s open confession hour, my precious darlings, this is not the space. If you are genuinely hurting, seek professional and appropriate support. That isn’t justice; that’s deflection disguised as activism.

That said, if you’re calling out actual harm and seeking real accountability; we stand with you.

Now, let’s discuss the now-vanished video that ruffled feathers and flamed egos. No names shall be named (although, let’s be honest, some of you did that quite well in the video itself). When you spill tea this hot, don’t be surprised if you get scorched. The writer, we’re told, missed the nuance while panning for gold, but sometimes the gold is buried in the mud you didn’t want to touch. Also, shoutout to Chamuditha and Rangana, seen diligently taking notes like they’re scripting the next primetime exposé.

And let’s not ignore the sweet, sweet irony: the ones who begged for drama now playing the victim violin, terribly out of tune and painfully off-key. You asked for tea, darling. You got a storm. Now don’t act surprised it stained your reputation.

Meanwhile, on a different planet, quite literally, the girls have launched. In a rocket ship, no less. An all-female crew finally takes up space, both literally and metaphorically. Katy Perry returned to Earth and kissed the ground with grace, but let’s be honest; Mr. Rajapaksa did it better. Better angles, better lighting.
Katy said the experience left her “connected to love.” Well, @itsame replied, “I can’t afford groceries, but at least Katy Perry is super connected to love.” And yet, we all know plenty of people who would rush to have that experience if the opportunity ever came their way.

And speaking of heroes, Mr. President had his shining moment, pulling a young girl from a swarming crowd. A noble move. Let’s hope he doesn’t end up tumbling down the same rabbit holes so many of our “saviours” have, where every act of kindness is edited into a reel, sponsored by ego, and scored with trending audio.

Until the next spill, The Writer
